Actually,
I had two procedures done at the same time, one was to remove some screws I have in my
left knee. So here we get a rare glimpse at the inside of my left knee. I'm
not sure what we are looking at, but it sure looks messed up. The surgeon, Dr. Rosemary Buckle (who reconstructed my knees with Dr. Criswell), determined that my kneecap had not healed, there was a non-union. So, I had to have a kneecap reconstruction, which pushed the total surgery time for both procedures to 12 hours! |
And
so Dr. Helfrick exposes the mandible for all to see. The mandible was shattered upon
impact of my 30 mph face with the concrete runway. The oral surgeon in Quincy said he could only identify three pieces of my mandible, to which he screwed the external fixator to hold the pieces in place. The remaining bone shards he left in there to provide a framework to generate more bone. So, here, we finally see how well my body did. Not bad, not great. ![]() Just for comparison, here's our real skull again. |
Oh good, something to do, start the IV. 6:45 a.m... |
